At 1X, we are building a more abundant society by creating general-purpose, humanoid robots that learn and work alongside humans in everyday life. We are currently searching for a mid-level Software Engineer, DevEx to join our 45-person engineering team in Palo Alto, California, where you will help us scale the infrastructure powering our robotics and artificial intelligence systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines in partnership with our software teams.
- Manage and scale our cloud infrastructure to support complex robotics workloads.
- Lead release engineering initiatives to coordinate deployments across development and production environments.
- Streamline the software development lifecycle to help our teams iterate faster.
- Build automated monitoring, testing, and alerting systems to maintain high reliability.
- Participate in on-call rotations during Pacific Daylight Time to ensure 24/7 system availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify infrastructure needs and implement scalable solutions.
Must-haves
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in DevOps or Platform Engineering.
- Strong technical expertise using GitLab for CI/CD.
- Practical experience with modern cloud infrastructure services.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
- Strong scripting skills in Python and BASH.
- Solid understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with industry-standard monitoring and logging tools.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Background in release engineering within robotics or high-tech sectors.
- Experience with additional CI/CD platforms like CircleCI.
- Familiarity with QA automation and release testing workflows.
- Knowledge of AI development processes and robotics software stacks.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Understanding of network security best practices.

The salary range for this role is $124,100 – $139,931 USD.
