Software Engineer - Data at NineDot Energy

At NineDot Energy, we are a community-scale clean energy developer dedicated to building a more resilient electric grid through innovative technology. We are looking for a Software Engineer - Data to join our team in Brooklyn, NY, where you will help us scale our infrastructure and drive decarbonization efforts across New York.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and large-scale applications to support our renewable energy operations.
• Develop custom API integrations and automated scripts to ensure seamless data synchronization across our internal tools.
• Manage and optimize our backend database systems to ensure high performance and reliability.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure, including compute resources and serverless environments, to maintain scalable operations.
• Implement DevOps best practices by automating deployments and creating testing harnesses for system upgrades.
• Collaborate with our finance, operations, and project development teams to identify technical needs and translate them into actionable plans.
• Maintain thorough technical documentation, including data dictionaries and design specifications.

Must-haves

• At least 3 years of professional experience in software or data engineering.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or a related field.
• Proficiency in at least two of the following: Python, SQL, or Java.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, specifically AWS.
• Strong background in ETL processes, data integration, and API management.
• Advanced understanding of data structures, algorithms, and relational database management.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, hybrid work environment.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $110,000 - $125,000, supplemented by bonus opportunities and incentive stock options.
