Software Engineer Credit ML at Slope

What is this role?

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Credit ML team. This is a full-time, on-site position based in our San Francisco office. You will play a foundational role in building the models and infrastructure that drive our underwriting stack, taking full ownership of features from the initial concept through to production.

What will you do?

• Develop and maintain the core risk models that determine our lending decisions, including the terms we offer to our customers.
• Manage the entire lifecycle of our models, from building training pipelines and writing training loops to deploying them into real-time production environments.
• Identify and integrate new data sources, such as credit bureaus and fraud-detection services, to continuously improve our underwriting accuracy and system performance.

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in engineering and a proactive approach to solving complex problems. We are looking for someone who meets the following criteria:

• At least 3 years of professional experience in Data Engineering or ML Engineering within a production environment.
• Proven ability to collaborate with data scientists to successfully ship features and models.
• Deep expertise in Python and JavaScript, along with experience using the data science stack including Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
• Experience building and debugging distributed ML infrastructure and internal tools to improve operational efficiency.
• Excellent communication skills in English and a willingness to work on-site in our San Francisco office.
