At Qumulo, we are tackling the massive challenge of managing unstructured data at an exabyte scale. Our mission is to provide enterprises with a simple, efficient way to store and curate data across any environment, whether that is in the cloud, at the edge, or within a core data center. We foster a culture of ownership and collaboration where diverse perspectives drive our innovation, and we remain deeply focused on delivering value to our customers.
The role
We are seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our Core Data Services team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United States. You will be instrumental in building the distributed storage engine that powers our products, working on a complex stack that includes fault-tolerant block storage, transactional file systems, and advanced replication features. This is an ideal role for an engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to contribute to technology that handles petabytes of data with sub-millisecond latency.
Core responsibilities
- Design, implement, and own customer-facing features and internal system improvements.
- Collaborate on feature development and rigorous testing using languages such as C and Rust.
- Engage in the full software development lifecycle, including stand-ups, code reviews, and pair programming, while proactively improving our team processes.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should have at least 2 years of experience delivering production-level software design, coding, and testing. We value candidates who possess the following:
- Proficiency in at least one compiled language, such as Rust, C++, C, Java, or Go.
- A strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including concurrent programming, data structures, algorithms, and operating systems.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for working within a team-oriented environment.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Bonus points for familiarity with Linux tooling, GDB, kernel interfaces, performance tuning, or public cloud storage APIs.
Compensation and benefits
The annual salary range for this position is USD $140,000.00 to $190,000.00, with final offers determined by your specific experience, skills, and location. We support our team members with a comprehensive benefits package, including:
- Excellent healthcare coverage and wellbeing benefits.
- A 401k investment plan.
- Parental leave and disability coverage.
- Flexible time off, with a strong encouragement to take at least three weeks of vacation per year.
How to apply
If you are ready to help us build the future of data storage, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application to be considered for this role, and note that all final candidates will undergo a standard background check as part of our commitment to a transparent and fair hiring process.
