We're The Browser Company, and we're reimagining how people experience the internet. Our browsers serve everyone from kids to grandparents, acting as gateways to work, connection, and discovery. We're building tools that go beyond basic browsing to help users organize their digital lives and express their ideas more effectively. A team of nearly 100 people works across a remote-first model with an optional office in Brooklyn, and we actively seek perspectives from varied backgrounds to strengthen our product.
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Compiler on a Full Time basis. In this position you will extend Windows support for the Swift programming language and create improvements that serve both our internal browser projects and the wider Swift community. Your contributions will influence how cross-platform applications are built with Swift at their foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate performance bottlenecks in areas such as memory allocation, profile-guided optimization, and hot-function improvements while collaborating with other teams to reduce build times.
- Expand and maintain platform support for Windows and Android, including continuous-integration testing, debugging utilities, and profiling tools across X86_64 and ARM64 architectures.
- Develop and maintain custom toolchains on macOS and Windows, integrate them with environments such as Xcode and VS Code, and advance cross-compilation capabilities for new and existing platforms.
Requirements
- Five or more years of experience working with language compilers and large codebases such as LLVM, ideally with prior exposure to Swift or C++.
- Familiarity with at least one of the operating systems we support-Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS-along with a strong interest in build systems and tooling that improve developer workflows.
- Pragmatic problem-solving skills suited to a startup setting with rapid validation cycles, plus at least four hours of overlap with our Eastern Time Zone team members.
- Alignment with our company values and a genuine enthusiasm for open-source collaboration.
Location
This role is fully remote and open to candidates based in the United States or Canada. Team members in the New York area may also choose to work from our Williamsburg office when desired.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this position is $295,000 - $350,000 USD annually. Final compensation will reflect your experience, expertise, and interview performance. In addition to salary, we provide equity compensation, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, generous paid time off, and dedicated resources for professional development.
