We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. At Rill, we have built the world’s fastest business intelligence tool, which is specifically engineered for real-time databases like ClickHouse and DuckDB. Our platform offers a full-stack solution that integrates an in-memory database, last-mile ETL, and interactive dashboards. By utilizing a BI-as-code approach, we allow developers to manage metrics through SQL and YAML. Our technology is trusted by major organizations across the financial services, digital marketing, and e-commerce sectors to handle complex operational analytics and reporting.
Responsibilities
- You will contribute directly to the Open Source Apache Druid project while helping to grow and engage its community.
- You will design and build highly scalable ingestion systems capable of processing billions of events.
- You will manage and scale our hosted SaaS offering, ensuring fault tolerance and consistency across thousands of nodes, while enhancing Druid query functionality to boost performance.
Requirements
- You possess 5 or more years of experience building distributed, fault-tolerant systems, such as Kafka, Cassandra, Pinot, Clickhouse, Zookeeper, ElasticSearch, MongoDB, or Druid.
- You have a strong background in developing performance-oriented, high-concurrency Java systems.
- You are proficient in using standard industry tools to profile, tune, and debug the Java Virtual Machine.
- You demonstrate a deep commitment to software quality through practices like rigorous code reviews and testability.
- You have excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical ideas to various stakeholders, including designers and fellow engineers.
- Previous experience with Open Source contributions or exposure to Big Data technologies like Spark, Hadoop, Presto, or relational databases is considered a significant advantage.
