Software Engineer - Backend at Regal

We are currently seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join our backend team in a hybrid capacity based out of our New York City headquarters.

Key outcomes

• Contribute directly to the development of our backend systems and Node-based APIs while collaborating with Product and Design teams to execute our roadmap.
• Enhance the throughput and observability of our existing services.
• Develop a deep understanding of our core infrastructure, including AWS services and Twilio APIs.
• Participate in the technical lifecycle by writing and reviewing RFCs, conducting code reviews, and supporting your code in production environments.
• Partner with Senior and Staff Engineers to establish and maintain high standards for system performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Utilize monitoring tools like Datadog to instrument production code and provide on-call support to triage and resolve technical issues.

Requirements

• At least one year of professional experience working with web technologies, preferably within a high-growth startup environment.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript for backend development.
• Solid experience working with relational databases, specifically Postgres.
• A proven track record of building and scaling systems in a production environment.
• Excellent collaborative skills and a proactive approach to delivering complex technical projects.
• A deep sense of technical curiosity and a commitment to writing high-quality, maintainable code.
• Fluency in English.

Preferred qualifications

• Practical experience working with Python.
• Familiarity with DynamoDB.
