About the Role

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. You will be a vital part of our Talk with New People squad, focusing on our live production application. Your primary mission will be to enhance our existing functionality to reach more users, working closely with our founders, product designers, and data scientists to solve complex user problems and build features that foster meaningful connections.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy scalable backend services that address critical product needs while maintaining high performance.
• Lead technical strategy and architecture by converting product visions into actionable, efficient roadmaps.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, product managers, and designers to identify user challenges and co-create innovative solutions.

Requirements

We are looking for a seasoned engineer with at least 5 years of experience who is comfortable in a highly autonomous, fast-paced environment. You should possess the following qualifications:

• A strong command of Python and Java.
• Proven experience working with storage systems such as PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• A track record of designing and implementing high-scale backend systems.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to manage the full development lifecycle from ideation and prototyping to final implementation.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical partners.

This is a remote position. While our headquarters are in San Francisco, we are committed to supporting our team members wherever they are located across the United States.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $200,000 to $245,000, which may be adjusted based on your specific experience, skills, and market conditions. In addition to base pay, we provide the following benefits:
