The role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our backend team on a full-time basis. This position is available to be performed remotely from anywhere, though you also have the option to work from our office in Berlin. You will play a vital role in our cross-functional product team, contributing to the acquisition and retention of our users by delivering innovative features and maintaining the high standards of our search services.

Core responsibilities

• Build, test, and deploy robust backend services that power the Ecosia search experience.
• Collaborate within a cross-functional team to develop and launch new product features.
• Enhance our backend engineering practices while ensuring our infrastructure remains scalable, secure, and performant.

Skills and experience

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong technical background and a collaborative mindset. We require the following qualifications:

• Extensive experience in building and deploying production code using the Go programming language.
• A solid understanding of system design, architecture patterns, and performance optimization.
• Practical knowledge of observability systems, including the ability to set up monitoring and alerting.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• An interest in working with TypeScript is considered an advantage.
