At Shipium, we are tackling the complex challenge of modern retail by helping companies provide fast, reliable delivery experiences. Founded in 2019 by veterans from Amazon and Zulily, we build powerful APIs and services that automate supply chain decisions. Our platform connects fragmented systems to help retailers reduce costs while ensuring their customers receive orders on time. We are looking for talented individuals to join our mission and help us transform how goods move from suppliers to doorsteps.
What is this role?
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a mid-level position designed for engineers who have 2 to 3 years of professional experience. You will work in a remote capacity to build scalable microservices that support the mission-critical operations of some of the world's largest retailers. While prior supply chain experience is not required, you will find that our work offers a fascinating intersection of computer science and machine learning concepts.
What will you do?
- Design, build, and maintain the software services and libraries that power our customers' supply chain and retail operations.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and leadership to define the best technical strategies for solving complex customer challenges.
- Ensure the reliability and performance of our systems by performing thorough unit and load testing, as well as debugging production issues to keep our customers running smoothly.
What makes you a great fit?
To succeed in this role, you should have a solid foundation in engineering principles and a passion for learning new domains. We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
- A strong background in Java with at least 2 to 3 years of experience.
- Proven expertise in building APIs and implementing robust unit testing.
- A deep understanding of algorithms and data structures.
- Experience working with both Relational and NoSQL databases.
- Practical knowledge of processing both streaming and batch data.
- Fluency in English and a willingness to tackle new technical problems with a dedicated, positive attitude.
What's in it for you?
We value our team members and offer a comprehensive package to support your health, well-being, and future. Benefits include:
- Remote work flexibility.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- A 401k retirement plan.
- Generous paid time off, including self-managed vacation time and 12 paid holidays annually.
- Flexible hours to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance.
