Our company was founded by Rafael Ortiz, who previously co-founded NexTag, a massive comparison shopping site that sold for $1.2 billion. We are currently looking for a Software Development Engineer II to join our Data and Reporting team. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of data and backend engineering, turning raw information into actionable insights that influence our sales, billing, and user engagement strategies.
Key outcomes
- Design and build scalable data pipelines using Spark with Scala or PySpark, while managing your workflows within Databricks.
- Manage both structured and unstructured data to create curated data layers that effectively serve our reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain integrations with internal APIs and external data sources to ensure smooth ingestion and transformation of operational data.
- Work alongside cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact dashboards and reports through BigQuery and Looker Studio.
- Partner with our backend and data stakeholders to enhance data quality, lineage, and overall system performance.
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies to ensure that critical reports are delivered to business stakeholders on time.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience in a data engineering or backend-focused role.
- Strong proficiency in programming with Scala, Python, or Java.
- A solid understanding of big data processing using Apache Spark and Databricks.
- Hands-on experience with BI and reporting tools, specifically Google BigQuery and Looker Studio.
- A working knowledge of backend development, including RESTful APIs and relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Experience building batch and near-real-time data pipelines, ideally within a cloud environment like GCP.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work effectively as an independent contributor in a remote environment.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow.
- Prior experience working within the fashion or e-commerce industries.
- Experience collaborating with United States-based technology companies.
