The role

We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer, Data to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a vital role where you will report directly to our Chief Technology Officer. You will be responsible for transforming raw data into analysis-ready formats, enabling our internal teams and the candidates we support to make impactful, data-driven decisions. We are looking for an experienced professional who is ready to tackle the audacious challenge of re-coding our democracy for good.

Core responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain dbt data models that power our candidate tools and internal analytics.
• Develop and manage data workflows and pipelines using Airflow to automate ETL patterns and other essential data tasks.
• Collaborate across our product and engineering teams to define key metrics, ensure data accuracy, and translate business questions into performant datasets.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• At least 4 years of relevant full-time work experience, ideally within a fast-paced startup environment.
• Fluency in SQL and deep experience in writing modular, reusable dbt models.
• Proven experience with Airflow for pipeline orchestration and a strong familiarity with CI/CD methodologies.
• An active interest in AI and LLMs, with previous projects or work demonstrating your ability to automate tasks using these technologies.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to gather requirements from stakeholders and work collaboratively in a lean, agile team.
• Current authorization to work in the United States without the need for future visa sponsorship.

Compensation and benefits

The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $160,000. In addition to base pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional growth:
