Software Developer Java at Portbase

At Portbase, we act as the digital engine powering maritime supply chain logistics in the Netherlands. Every year, our Port Community System supports over 30,000 seagoing vessels and 100,000 inland vessels, facilitating seamless interactions for thousands of companies including customs, terminals, and shipping lines. We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid role where you will build mission-critical, high-volume technology that keeps European trade moving efficiently and securely.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain event-driven, cloud-native software solutions designed to handle large volumes of real-time logistics data.
• Design and implement robust APIs that serve as the backbone for national supply chain operations.
• Manage the full development lifecycle by frequently releasing improvements and monitoring system performance in production environments.

Requirements

• You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and possess at least 3 years of professional experience working with Java.
• You have practical knowledge of event-driven architecture and cloud technologies, with a strong preference for AWS.
• You are familiar with modern development practices including TDD, unit testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• You demonstrate a solid understanding of API design and Domain-Driven Design principles.
• You have a proactive, Agile mindset and a genuine interest in the complexities of maritime logistics and supply chain management.
