At Aquatic, we are building the world’s leading quantitative trading firm by combining rigorous scientific research with advanced technology to compete in global financial markets. Our focus is on creating the best prediction machine possible, and we are looking for engineers who share our drive to push the limits of performance and reliability in one of the most demanding environments imaginable.
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer on a full-time basis. In this position you will own the production reliability of our real-time trading systems, working closely with quant researchers and developers to keep our platforms stable, scalable, and observable. The role centers on writing clean, maintainable Python code and designing robust systems that support high-frequency trading across multiple exchanges.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain the performance, reliability, and stability of trading systems that operate across global markets.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly to minimize any impact on live trading activities.
- Build automation, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring solutions that improve operational efficiency and system observability.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who hold a BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field and bring at least five years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering. You should have strong Python programming skills with a track record of building production-grade applications, along with proven experience scaling distributed systems and implementing production-grade automation. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and production debugging is essential. We value individuals who thrive in high-stakes environments where uptime, latency, and reliability are critical, and who demonstrate a strong bias for action, independent problem-solving, and a collaborative approach to delivering results aligned with research and development goals.
Location
This position is based in the United States and requires on-site presence.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $150,000 to $300,000. In addition to salary, the position may include a discretionary bonus that can form a significant portion of total compensation. We offer fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents, a competitive 401k plan, employer-paid life and disability insurance, wellness programs, generous paid time off, paid holidays, and competitive paid caregiver leave. Additional perks include casual dress, snacks, lunch, a game room, and regular team and company events in an open environment that supports continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
