Senior Structural Analyst at Elroy Air

At Elroy Air, we are transforming the movement of goods by building autonomous vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) cargo aircraft. While air transport is naturally faster and more efficient than traditional ground or sea logistics, it has historically been too expensive for widespread use. We are changing that by opening up new middle-mile possibilities for commercial express shipping and military logistics. The role

We are seeking a Senior Structural Analyst to join our Mechanical Engineering team on a full-time, on-site basis. Based at our headquarters in South San Francisco, California, this senior-level position is essential to our product lifecycle. You will work within a small, collaborative group to define requirements, guide design concepts, and ensure our aircraft meet the highest standards of structural integrity through rigorous analysis and testing.

Core responsibilities

• Conduct static and dynamic structural analysis for primary and secondary metallic and composite aircraft structures using finite element analysis (FEA) and classical methods.
• Execute trade studies and structural optimizations to balance strength, durability, and rigidity against cost and complexity.
• Lead the correlation of structural models with empirical data and support the planning and reporting of comprehensive structural test campaigns.

Skills and experience

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• An MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience performing vehicle-level structural analysis within the space, aeronautical, or automotive industries.
• Expert-level proficiency with FEMAP, NX Nastran, MATLAB, and Microsoft Excel.
• Deep technical expertise in fatigue analysis, dynamic loads, and vibration.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, hands-on approach to problem-solving.

Compensation and benefits
