Role at a glance
We are looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our Queueing and Storage Systems team. This is a full-time position that can be performed remotely from anywhere. You will be part of a group that manages the backbone of our infrastructure, including databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB, as well as various queueing systems. We are looking for an experienced engineer who is ready to help us build the next generation of automated storage platforms.
Your impact
- Design and build Kubernetes operators to automate the provisioning, scaling, and management of our infrastructure.
- Create reusable storage platforms that empower other engineering squads to manage their data efficiently without the typical operational overhead.
- Maintain high reliability and performance across our production database and queueing systems while providing expert guidance to the rest of the engineering organization.
What you'll need
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in distributed systems and a passion for internal tooling. We value candidates who can communicate clearly in English and have the following qualifications:
- At least 9 years of experience operating high-throughput database or queueing platforms in production environments.
- Proficiency in writing high-quality code in languages such as Golang, Ruby, Scala, Elixir, or Python.
- A proven track record of designing and supporting internal-facing tools where your coworkers are your primary customers.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in ambiguous environments by prioritizing incremental delivery.
- A willingness to work primarily in Golang while occasionally working with other languages like Ruby.
