Have you ever wondered what it takes to power a global media powerhouse that reaches over 223 million readers? At BDG Media, we are the creative force behind iconic brands like Bustle, Nylon, W, and The Zoe Report. We operate as a technology-driven company, relying on our talented engineering team to build the sophisticated systems that scale our business and support our editorial staff. If you are looking to make a significant impact by architecting the internal systems that drive nine-figure revenue, we would love to have you join our team.
What you bring
We are looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join us on a full-time, hybrid basis in the United States. You will play a pivotal role in leading the architecture and development of our internal Enterprise Resource Planning software, which serves as the backbone of our operational and financial success. Your daily work will center on Ruby on Rails development, requiring a blend of technical expertise and strategic product thinking. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading the end-to-end architecture and development of our core Rails-based internal systems.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, planning, ad ops, and marketing, to translate business needs into intuitive software solutions.
- Driving architectural design discussions to ensure our infrastructure remains efficient, fault-tolerant, and highly maintainable as we scale.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should bring at least five years of professional software engineering experience with a deep focus on Ruby on Rails. We value candidates who have a proven track record of building and scaling complex applications while designing robust database schemas. You should possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, allowing you to make strategic decisions that align with our broader company goals. We are looking for someone who is not only technically proficient in software engineering best practices but also excels at communicating with non-technical stakeholders. Fluency in English is required, and we look for individuals who are comfortable taking full ownership of their projects from the initial concept through to deployment and beyond.
What we offer
We are committed to providing a flexible and supportive environment for our engineering team. We believe that great work happens when you have the right balance between collaboration and personal flexibility.
- Hybrid work arrangements to support your professional and personal life.
How to Apply
If you are ready to apply your expertise to a high-scale media environment and help us build the future of our internal operations, we encourage you to reach out. We are excited to learn more about your experience and how your skills can help us continue to innovate and grow.
