At mmhmm, we are building an all-in-one platform designed to make video communication as natural and effortless as a coffee break. Founded in 2020 by the team at All Turtles, we operate as a fully distributed, global company dedicated to helping teams stay engaged and effective through better meetings and recordings. We are looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our backend team and help shape the future of our product architecture.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust backend APIs and services.
- Develop both rapid prototypes and scalable production systems.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to plan and coordinate engineering initiatives.
- Define the technical direction for our service backend, including selecting new technology components and evolving our system architecture.
Must-haves
- At least 10 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in backend development, specifically with API and database design.
- Proven experience building complex, cloud-native backends.
- Deep technical expertise with AWS.
- Professional experience with Go or a strong aptitude for learning new programming languages.
- Practical knowledge of both relational and NoSQL databases, such as DynamoDB.
- Excellent communication skills and a track record of delivering ambitious projects in a startup environment.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to balance high-quality output with shipping speed.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience working with streaming video technologies.
