At mmhmm, we are building an all-in-one platform designed to make video communication as natural and effortless as a coffee break. Founded in 2020 by the team at All Turtles, we operate as a fully distributed, global company dedicated to helping teams stay engaged and effective through better meetings and recordings. We are looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our backend team and help shape the future of our product architecture.

Responsibilities

Design and implement robust backend APIs and services.
Develop both rapid prototypes and scalable production systems.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to plan and coordinate engineering initiatives.
Define the technical direction for our service backend, including selecting new technology components and evolving our system architecture.

Must-haves

At least 10 years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong proficiency in backend development, specifically with API and database design.
Proven experience building complex, cloud-native backends.
Deep technical expertise with AWS.
Professional experience with Go or a strong aptitude for learning new programming languages.
Practical knowledge of both relational and NoSQL databases, such as DynamoDB.
Excellent communication skills and a track record of delivering ambitious projects in a startup environment.
Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to balance high-quality output with shipping speed.

Nice-to-haves

Prior experience working with streaming video technologies.

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $209,000 to $227,000. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
