The opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Staff Full Stack Software Engineer to take significant ownership of technical projects that directly influence our business success. In this role, you will be a product-oriented engineer who is passionate about using technology to drive positive social impact. You will work within a hybrid environment, joining our team in the San Francisco office on Mondays and Thursdays. You will have the chance to leverage modern tools and AI to build scalable, configurable systems while mentoring others and helping us move quickly toward our ambitious vision.

A day in the life

• Lead architecture discussions during feature development to ensure our projects remain performant, reliable, and sound.
• Execute Full Stack development, typically splitting your time between 60 percent back end and 40 percent front end tasks.
• Collaborate closely with product management to scope and build features while advocating for code patterns that are flexible, scalable, and easy for the rest of the team to maintain.

Who you are

You are a seasoned engineer with at least two years of professional experience, and you thrive in a startup environment where taking initiative is the norm. You have a proven track record of leading large architectural projects and coordinating across multiple engineering teams. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with Ruby on Rails, React, and GraphQL, though we value your ability to learn and adapt above all else. You are a strong communicator who enjoys mentoring peers, and you possess a deep curiosity about how to use AI to improve software quality and developer efficiency. Experience with configurable enterprise software or government-facing applications is a significant plus.
