Karius is a venture-backed life science startup dedicated to transforming how we observe pathogens and microbes throughout the human body. By unlocking information from microbial cell-free DNA, we help physicians solve complex infectious disease cases and provide industry partners with biomarkers to accelerate clinical trials. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Quality Engineer to join our team on a full-time, hybrid basis. In this role, you will ensure the reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance of our AI-driven analytical software pipelines, directly contributing to life-saving medical insights.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and technical stakeholders to define system requirements, resolve issues, and ensure high-quality software functionality.
- Design, execute, and maintain detailed test plans, scripts, and cases to validate the performance and compliance of our bioinformatics software.
- Perform both manual and automated testing, including functional, integration, and regression testing, while identifying opportunities to improve our testing frameworks and quality metrics.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of experience in software quality engineering, including 3 years working within regulated environments like medical device software.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with automated testing tools such as Pytest, Selenium, Playwright, and Postman.
- Strong knowledge of software development lifecycles, version control systems like Git, and project management tools such as Jira.
- A solid understanding of regulatory standards, including 21 CFR Part 11, 21 CFR Part 820, CAP/CLIA, IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.
- Experience with cloud-based platforms and validating data-driven software is highly desirable.
