At Probably Genetic, we are dedicated to transforming the lives of patients struggling with severe and complex diseases. Our data platform serves as a vital bridge for drug developers and patient advocacy groups, helping them launch life-changing treatments. By utilizing machine learning and at-home testing, our technology identifies undiagnosed patients and facilitates secure, compliant communication. We are a mission-driven team backed by top investors like Threshold, Khosla, and Y Combinator, and we are looking for passionate individuals to help us scale our impact.
What is this role?
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid position based in the United States. In this role, you will play a key part in designing and implementing our AI-driven patient experience and genetic sequencing workflows, while helping to build the robust infrastructure that powers our patient intelligence platform.
What will you do?
- Design and build scalable APIs, laboratory integrations, and bioinformatic tools using Python, Django, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
- Develop high-quality front-end interfaces for our phenotyping products and biotech data platforms using TypeScript and React.
- Collaborate across teams to transform requirements into releases, review technical proposals, and maintain high architectural standards through code reviews.
What makes you a great fit?
You are an experienced engineer who thrives in ambiguous environments and possesses a strong desire to solve complex, meaningful problems. To succeed here, you should have:
- Proven experience building full-stack applications with a focus on creating polished, user-centered front-end experiences.
- Technical proficiency in our core stack, including Python, Django, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, AWS, Terraform, and GitHub Actions.
- A track record of designing scalable systems and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
- A deep sense of empathy, as you will be working with marginalized populations and must be genuinely motivated to improve patient outcomes.
What's in it for you?
We believe in supporting our team members both personally and professionally. When you join us, you can expect the following benefits:
- Flexible hours and a hybrid work model that offers high trust and autonomy.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- A 401k plan to help you prepare for the future.
- Generous paid time off and the opportunity to participate in exciting company retreats.
- The flexibility to work remotely when needed.
