Fathom is dedicated to transforming medical data into actionable insights by using advanced AI to interpret the vast amount of clinician notes found in electronic health records. Our deep learning technology automates the complex process of translating patient records into billing codes, helping major health systems save billions annually. As a venture-backed company that secured $46M in Series B funding in 2022, we are growing quickly and looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our remote team in the USA.

Responsibilities

Design and maintain data infrastructure to ingest, clean, and normalize diverse medical information, including health records, journals, and human-labeled inputs.
Develop high-performance, intuitive interfaces to interact with our data.
Engineer robust systems that support large-scale cloud-based machine learning and data ingestion.

Must-haves

At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience in a production environment.
Strong foundation in systems design, algorithms, and data structures.
Proven ability to construct data pipelines that pull from multiple, disparate sources.
Practical experience in scaling and managing compute clusters.
Deep understanding of databases and large-scale processing frameworks like Hadoop or Spark.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.

Nice-to-haves

Experience building systems that support machine learning, particularly with NLP toolkits like Python’s NLTK, OpenNLP, or Stanford CoreNLP.
Background in handling HIPAA regulations or navigating the complexities of healthcare data.
Expertise in managing large-scale data acquisition and labeling processes.

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $175,000 USD to $220,000 USD, plus company equity.
