At Alphataraxia Management, we operate as a high-growth quantitative investment group with a presence in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, CA. We are a leading participant in the wholesale electricity markets, a sector defined by constant evolution and extreme volatility. Our team thrives on solving complex, high-stakes problems by turning vast amounts of data into actionable trading decisions. We value a collaborative, horizontal structure where every team member takes ownership of their work and contributes to our proprietary technology stack. If you are a driven engineer who enjoys building tools from the ground up and working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the evolution of our investment platform. You will design, build, and refine the proprietary systems that allow us to trade speculative wholesale power contracts and manage portfolio risk. This is a hybrid position where you will work closely with investment analysts, data engineers, and DevOps professionals to ensure our technical infrastructure supports our business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the core proprietary systems and tools that drive our trading activities and risk management strategies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with investment and data teams to deliver high-impact software solutions and improve our existing platform architecture.
- Mentor early-career engineers on best practices while proactively proposing architectural improvements to enhance our overall development standards.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong technical background and a passion for building robust systems. We require the following qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in software engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python, with a preference for experience using FastAPI.
- Full stack development capabilities, including a strong backend focus and comfort working with frontend technologies like React.
- Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- A testing-oriented mindset and the ability to grasp complex quantitative concepts.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, dynamic team.
Location
This position is based in the United States and operates in a hybrid work environment.
Compensation and Benefits
We are committed to providing a competitive compensation package and a supportive work-life balance. Our benefits include:
- A base salary range of $170,000 to $200,000.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- A 401k plan with 100% company matching on the first 4% of deferrals.
- Generous paid time off, including vacation days, federal holidays, and floating holidays.
- A flexible hybrid work schedule, including fully remote months during specific times of the year.
