Senior Software Engineer at Census

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. At Census, we have developed a unified data platform that allows teams at organizations like Canva, Figma, and Rippling to sync information across hundreds of business applications using our Reverse ETL technology. We are backed by major investors including a16z, Sequoia, Tiger Global, and Insight, and we pride ourselves on taking complex data challenges and turning them into elegant, automated workflows. As a remote-first company, we are building a team of experienced engineers who are passionate about creating high-impact solutions.

Responsibilities

• You will contribute across our entire technology stack, which includes Rails, TypeScript, Vue, Heroku, and AWS.
• You will collaborate directly with our product team to design, develop, and deploy new features that scale to billions of records.
• You will play an active role in shaping our engineering culture and team environment by participating in our bi-weekly sprint planning and daily stand-ups.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who can manage projects from start to finish, including building, deploying, and maintaining their own code. You should be comfortable working with backend systems, data, and UI components while maintaining a strong focus on the customer experience. We value a scrappy, optimistic approach to problem-solving and a bias toward taking action in ambiguous environments. Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or possess equivalent professional experience.

What we offer
