Senior Software Engineer at Sunrise

What you bring

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis as a founding member who will help us scale our platform to millions of users. You will work in a hybrid environment, with the flexibility to work from anywhere. Your role involves shaping our technical direction and building robust solutions for both our patients and medical partners. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Designing and iterating on our core web application stack using NestJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
• Partnering directly with our Product, Marketing, and Operations teams to ensure our technical solutions address current business needs while remaining scalable for the future.
• Collaborating with your teammates to build, debug, and evolve our software across the entire technology stack.

Requirements

The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in software engineering, backed by at least five years of experience building modern web applications. You should have a proven track record of developing Node.js applications, ideally within a startup environment or at scale. Because we operate as a distributed team, you must demonstrate excellent written and verbal English communication skills to thrive in our asynchronous work culture. We value individuals who can navigate ambiguity, make quick decisions, and approach problems with a leadership mindset. While a degree in Computer Science or a related field is helpful, we prioritize your ability to deliver reliable, high-quality software. Experience with cloud infrastructure and customer-facing business applications is a plus, and while a background in health tech is not required, it is certainly welcomed.
