Picture a team of engineers who believe technology should open doors for people at every stage of their careers. At Multiverse we build the platform that turns that belief into daily progress for thousands of apprentices and the companies that employ them. Our work sits at the centre of a fast-moving story: the UK’s first EdTech unicorn, backed by a recent $220 million Series D, now scaling to meet the demands of an AI-first world.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Atlas squad, the group behind our flagship AI product that guides apprentices 24/7 with personalised, context-aware support. In this role you will shape both the technical backbone and the day-to-day experience of a product used daily by thousands of learners. Your contributions will sit inside a high-trust environment where experimentation is encouraged, knowledge is shared weekly, and every line of code connects directly to workforce transformation.
A day in the life
- You will design and ship full-stack features across Python, TypeScript, React, Elixir and AWS, turning product ideas into reliable production systems that improve education quality at scale.
- You will explore AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Gemini or Claude Code, using them to raise both velocity and code quality while still applying rigorous review and testing standards.
- You will act as a technical multiplier by leading features, mentoring peers, defining squad-level health metrics and ensuring proactive monitoring keeps Atlas running smoothly for every user.
Who you are
You bring senior-level engineering experience and a track record of writing clean, tested, scalable code that meets real non-functional requirements around security, performance and reliability. You think in systems, weighing trade-offs and choosing architectures that solve complex business problems without unnecessary complexity. You treat AI tooling as a core part of your workflow rather than an optional experiment, and you communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders. Experience with event-driven architecture, a habit of mentoring through pairing and code review, or contributions to open-source projects would set you apart. English fluency is essential as it is the primary language across our teams and documentation.
Why you'll love it here
You will receive 27 days of holiday each year plus five extra days for life events, volunteering and wellbeing, along with eight bank holidays. Private medical insurance through Bupa, a medical cashback scheme, life insurance, gym membership via Wellhub and mental-health support through Spill are all included. Most roles follow a hybrid pattern of three office days per week, while our work-from-anywhere scheme lets you spend up to ten additional days working remotely from any location. Weekly team catch-ups, seasonal celebrations and a well-stocked kitchen keep the culture connected beyond the screen.
