Picture a sunlit Budapest office where engineers, designers, and makers gather around the latest prototypes, turning digital ideas into physical objects that once seemed impossible. That is the everyday reality at Formlabs, the company that has placed professional-grade 3D printers on desks at Google, Tesla, Gillette, and New Balance. Founded in 2011 and a unicorn by 2018, we opened our Product Development Center here three years ago and have grown to a lively team of more than seventy people who thrive on tackling ambitious challenges together.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Desktop team and help shape PreForm, the application that turns raw 3D models into flawless prints. Your work will sit at the center of the product experience, bridging powerful geometry engines with an interface that feels effortless for designers, researchers, and artists around the world. By improving the software that drives our printers, you will directly influence how millions of future creations come to life.
A day in the life
- You might start the morning reviewing an automated test suite for a new cross-platform feature, then spend the afternoon pairing with a designer to refine how users interact with complex geometry tools.
- Before lunch you could be refactoring a rendering pipeline for better performance, while in the afternoon you join an agile planning session to decide which workflow improvements ship next.
- Throughout the week you collaborate with product managers and fellow engineers to keep code clean, testable, and ready for continuous integration, always keeping the end-user experience in focus.
Who you are
You bring several years of full-stack application development experience and feel confident architecting and shipping complex desktop software. You are comfortable writing C++ and working with Qt on both Windows and macOS, and you value clean architecture, automated testing, and continuous integration. You enjoy taking initiative, learning from experiments, and jumping into varied technical challenges. Professional fluency in English is essential for working with our global team.
Why you'll love it here
Beyond meaningful technical work, we support you with private health insurance through Medicover, a monthly or quarterly public-transport pass for Budapest, and an All You Can Move sports pass that includes a 7000 HUF monthly allowance. You will also enjoy catered lunches three days a week, free drinks and snacks, the freedom to 3D print your own projects, and a welcoming, dog-friendly office where professional development opportunities are encouraged both on-site and off-site.
