We are looking for a dedicated Senior Software Engineer to join our team in St. Louis, Missouri. Our organization partners with a prominent mid-tier defense technology firm to deliver advanced solutions in network computing, force protection, and sensing for the U.S. Department of Defense and its allies. This role requires you to work on-site four days a week, and please note that U.S. citizenship is a mandatory requirement for this position.
Key outcomes
- Architect, build, and support high-performance embedded software using modern C++ and embedded Linux, specifically PetaLinux, for critical defense projects.
- Analyze and resolve complex technical issues, including debugging communication errors between hardware and software components.
- Develop and enhance simulation tools to facilitate robust software testing and validation.
- Implement rigorous testing methodologies, with a particular focus on black box input and output verification.
- Manage codebase migrations across various operating systems and environments.
- Create clear technical documentation and provide detailed explanations of project challenges and implemented solutions.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment, utilizing UML, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools like Docker to streamline development.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Extensive professional experience with modern C++ and embedded Linux.
- Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell and BASH.
- Experience working with Docker and CI/CD workflows.
- Strong background in software testing, including the use of simulators and various testing methodologies.
- Ability to document technical processes using UML and tools such as Confluence, Visio, or Doxygen.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to work on-site in St. Louis, Missouri, four days per week.
Preferred qualifications
- Practical experience with VxWorks or Linux kernel development.
- Proficiency in distributed computing architectures.
- Programming skills in Python or Java.
- Prior experience working within the defense, aerospace, or government sectors.
