What is this role?

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. This is a senior-level position for someone who thrives on taking ownership of complex projects. You will be responsible for building scalable, secure, and maintainable production systems that directly impact our ability to detect wildfires. We value creativity and collaboration, and we are looking for someone who is ready to drive end-to-end capabilities for our users.

What will you do?

• Collaborate with your teammates to design and build highly scalable backend solutions that support our mission.
• Take charge of new projects from the initial conceptualization phase all the way through to deployment.
• Maintain high standards for code quality and system performance while participating in on-call rotations to ensure our platforms remain reliable for first responders.

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in backend development and a passion for solving complex technical problems. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience as a backend software engineer, including 3 years in a fast-paced SaaS environment.
• Deep proficiency in Java and the Spring framework, along with strong skills in Python.
• Solid experience working with SQL, PostgreSQL, and various ORMs.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a distributed team.
• Bonus points if you have experience with cloud platforms like GCP or AWS, as well as Linux environments and containerization tools.
• Fluency in English is required for this role.
