Are you ready to help us shape the future of aviation by building safe, clean, and efficient autonomous electric aircraft? At Pyka, we are transforming transportation by developing an entire ecosystem of proprietary technologies, from flight control software and avionics to high-power motors and custom carbon-fiber airframes. We are already delivering autonomous cargo and crop protection solutions to customers across four continents, and we invite you to join our team to make a tangible impact on the world while working on some of the most exciting challenges in robotics.
What you bring
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis at our United States location. You will play a critical role in our aviation robotics stack, focusing on complex problems in planning, mapping, object detection, and simulation. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing, planning, and implementing large-scale features for our autonomous aircraft and ground infrastructure.
- Collaborating with our operations and product teams to translate needs into technical roadmaps and robust software solutions.
- Providing technical leadership and mentorship to fellow engineers while ensuring our code meets the high standards required for flight and field testing.
Requirements
The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in C++ and Python, with at least five years of professional experience. You should be comfortable working with complex systems and have a solid grasp of linear algebra and trigonometry. We value candidates who have practical experience in areas such as path planning, object detection, or aviation controls. A genuine passion for aviation and robotics is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively in English. Please note that because our work involves sensitive technology, this position is subject to government export control regulations, and your employment will be contingent upon the necessary authorizations.
What we offer
We provide a competitive base salary ranging from $152,000 to $200,000 per year, complemented by equity compensation. Our benefits package is designed to support your well-being and long-term success:
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- A 401(k) retirement plan.
- Generous paid time off and paid holidays.
- Daily catered lunches and a well-stocked kitchen.
- The unique opportunity to see your work take flight on large-scale autonomous aircraft.
How to Apply
If you are excited about the prospect of solving high-stakes problems in autonomous aviation and want to contribute to a team that is actively changing the industry, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application to join our mission, and we look forward to reviewing your experience and discussing how you can help us reach new heights.
