At Neon, we are on a mission to build a cloud-native, open-source PostgreSQL database as a service for developers everywhere. By separating storage from compute, we enable serverless Postgres that scales to meet the needs of modern applications. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Autoscaling team on a full-time, remote basis. This is an opportunity to join a well-funded, fast-paced startup where you will work on low-level systems code to help us deploy and automatically scale Postgres virtual machines.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with our experienced engineering team to design, build, and maintain our core virtual machine infrastructure.
- Develop low-level system software, focusing on areas like Kubernetes, containers, networking, and virtual machine management.
- Take an active role in our on-call rotation and contribute to our hiring process by interviewing prospective engineering talent.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience, including a minimum of 1 year working with Go.
- Extensive background in low-level backend languages such as C, C++, or Rust.
- Deep technical expertise in Linux system programming, Kubernetes, distributed systems, and virtual machine technologies like QEMU.
- A proven track record of delivering complex projects and a passion for performance engineering.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A strong sense of ownership and a desire to work in an early-stage, collaborative, open-source environment.
