Imagine a world where the entire software development lifecycle happens right inside your browser. At StackBlitz, we are turning that vision into reality. We are a fast-growing, fully remote team dedicated to building the future of computing, and we are already trusted by over one million developers every month who use our platform for everything from open source projects to professional enterprise work. We believe in the power of deep, focused work, but we also place a high value on maintaining a healthy, happy life outside of the office. If you are someone who loves solving complex technical puzzles and wants to help us revolutionize how developers build, we would love to meet you.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help us advance WebContainer, our groundbreaking in-browser operating system built on WebAssembly. This role is perfect for someone fascinated by the intersection of browser engines, Node.js, and operating systems. You will be at the forefront of a major shift in web technology, helping us move software development into the browser and enabling developers everywhere to build faster and more efficiently.
A day in the life
- You will build and refine new capabilities for the WebContainer kernel using a mix of TypeScript, Rust, and WebAssembly.
- You will enhance Node.js compatibility within our environment and explore support for new languages and runtimes.
- You will contribute to the security of our systems and collaborate with major open source projects to help them transition from native binaries to WebAssembly.
Who you are
We are looking for a teammate who is comfortable working with autonomy in an ambiguous environment. You should be a strong communicator who approaches technical challenges with empathy and a collaborative spirit. Specifically, we are looking for the following:
- You have at least 5 years of experience in web development, with a heavy focus on JavaScript and TypeScript rather than UI design.
- You possess a solid understanding of native Node.js APIs, including file systems, networking, and cryptography.
- You are experienced with unit testing and e2e testing frameworks like Jest and Puppeteer.
- You are located within the EU or CEST timezone (GMT 0-4).
- While not required, familiarity with Rust, WebAssembly, or C/C++ is a major plus.
Why you'll love it here
We are a 100% remote company that values your well-being as much as your output. We offer a supportive culture where we work hard to achieve our goals while ensuring you have the time and space to live a fulfilling personal life. Our benefits package includes:
- Full remote work flexibility.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Paid parental leave.
