Senior Software Engineer at Highnote

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in a full-time, hybrid capacity. At Highnote, we serve as an all-in-one card issuance and program management platform, helping digital-first organizations grow through flexible payment solutions. Since our founding in 2020 by industry leaders from companies like Braintree and PayPal, we have secured over $104 million in funding and grown to a team of more than 100 people across 22 states. Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve performance issues within our core services to ensure they scale effectively.
• Design and implement secure, compliant platform products that directly address the needs of our customers.
• Develop high-quality, robustly tested software, primarily utilizing Java, while maintaining clear documentation to support our rapid growth.

Requirements

We are seeking candidates who have a strong foundation in engineering principles and a passion for building production-grade systems. Key qualifications include:

• At least 8 years of experience in building and maintaining production software systems.
• Advanced knowledge of concurrency management, performance tuning, and system optimization.
• Extensive experience with Java (version 11 or higher), including Spring frameworks, JPA, and complex SQL development.
• A proven track record of writing maintainable, scalable code and a commitment to rigorous unit and integration testing.
• Bonus points for familiarity with cloud infrastructure like GCP or AWS, containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, big data solutions like BigQuery or Redshift, and deep expertise in payment systems.

What we offer

We provide a competitive compensation package that reflects our commitment to fair and equitable pay. The annual salary range for this position is $170,000 to $230,000.
