Senior Software Engineer at Actian

HCL Software, a division of HCL Technologies, is currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in either Bangalore or Pune. We specialize in developing enterprise-grade software, including SaaS and managed services, with a focus on DevOps, automation, and application modernization. You will play a vital role in our engineering team by contributing to the ActianX/Vector product family, which serves as a core component of our rapidly expanding Actian Data Platform.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement enhancements to improve the performance, scalability, and overall stability of our high-performance database management system.
• Develop comprehensive tests and maintain functionality within our continuous integration environment.
• Collaborate closely with our product management, quality assurance, and support teams, as well as our partners and customers, to ensure high-quality product delivery and maintenance.

Requirements

We are seeking a dedicated professional with at least 5 years of experience in software development, ideally within the database management field. You should possess a strong technical background and a desire to grow within a dynamic team environment.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or an equivalent advanced qualification.
• High proficiency in C-family programming languages and strong skills in algorithm design.
• Deep understanding of database technology, specifically SQL, relational algebra, and query optimization.
• Practical knowledge of Linux or Windows operating systems, including memory management and I/O processes.
• Competency in scripting languages such as Python or BASH.
• Experience with compiler techniques, language parsing, or code generation is considered a plus.
• Familiarity with Visual Studio and Windows-specific APIs is highly valued.
