Senior Software Engineer at Bastion

We are Bastion, a 30-plus person company building regulated financial infrastructure that enables modern businesses to issue stablecoins, manage custodial wallets, and move assets globally. Our platform combines compliance-first design with flexible deployment options so customers can adopt individual services or run an end-to-end stack under their own licenses. We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help us expand the backend systems that power custody, transfers, issuance, and compliance workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver production-grade services that handle real-money operations such as custody, transfers, and issuance while meeting strict reliability and security standards.
• Own a service or capability end-to-end, from API design and implementation through observability, testing, and operational readiness.
• Lead cross-service initiatives that improve system reliability, simplify data models, or introduce compliance-aware changes, and mentor teammates through design documents and code reviews.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience building and operating backend services in a production environment, ideally within financial, infrastructure, or similarly regulated domains.
• Proficiency with Go or TypeScript/Node.js; familiarity with Rust is a plus.
• Hands-on experience designing and consuming gRPC or REST APIs, and working with GraphQL or tRPC at the edge.
• Strong working knowledge of Postgres, Redis, and Kafka for data and asynchronous processing, plus Temporal for workflow orchestration.
• Practical experience running services on AWS with Kubernetes and Terraform, including the use of hardware-backed security features such as Nitro Enclaves.
• Comfort operating in a remote-first, async-by-default culture where engineers take initiative on features, observability, and codebase health.
• Fluency in English and the ability to collaborate across product, compliance, and engineering teams.
