The opportunity

As a senior member of our engineering team, you will play a central role in the entire software development lifecycle. You will work closely with stakeholders to refine our MediaAlpha Exchange product, ensuring that our technical architecture aligns with our broader business objectives. This is a hybrid role, requiring you to be in the office two days per week. You will be a key voice in our organization, helping to define best practices and driving the design of systems that need to be both robust and scalable.

A day in the life

• You will take full ownership of the development lifecycle for our high-performance ad-serving software, ensuring our systems remain reliable and efficient.
• You will collaborate with our partners to integrate our products seamlessly while jumping in to support the team in resolving technical challenges.
• You will spend time developing in Perl within a Linux environment, utilizing Amazon EC2, S3, CloudFront, and Route 53 to maintain our live exchange infrastructure.

Who you are

We are looking for someone with at least five years of professional software development experience and a bachelor's degree in a technical field like computer science. You should be a self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments and communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues. We value engineers who are passionate about writing clean, maintainable code and who want to foster a culture of technical excellence. While not strictly required, experience with SQL, Perl, shell scripts, and Linux will be highly beneficial in this role.
