Backflip is a venture-backed fintech company dedicated to transforming the real estate investing industry. We empower local entrepreneurs to improve their lives and neighborhoods by providing the tools and technology needed to succeed in an outdated system. With a recent $15 million Series A funding round and a growing team of approximately 60 people, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us scale our platform. This is a fully remote role based in the U.S. that offers the chance to work directly with senior leadership in a collaborative, high-growth environment.
Key outcomes
- Design, develop, and maintain robust full-stack solutions using Python, React, and React Native.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to innovate and deliver high-quality platform features.
- Contribute to the architecture and implementation of scalable, maintainable codebases.
- Ensure software reliability by writing automated tests and managing deployments to cloud environments.
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs to support backend functionality.
- Provide accurate project estimates and meet key development milestones.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and React, including a strong grasp of object-oriented programming.
- Solid experience with front-end technologies like JavaScript and React.js.
- Deep understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, algorithms, and data structures.
- Practical experience with AWS or similar cloud frameworks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and container-based environments.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or at least 8 years of equivalent professional experience.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with mobile application development for iOS and Android.
- Familiarity with GraphQL and geo-spatial search techniques.
- Background in machine learning, such as LLMs, NLP, or computer vision.
- Previous experience working in an Agile environment.
- Industry knowledge in real estate, real estate investment, or fintech.
Compensation
The base salary for this position ranges from $165,000 to $180,000. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including equity compensation, medical insurance, and a 401k plan with a company match. This role is fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from wherever you are most inspired.
