At Daybreak Health, we are driven by the belief that every young person deserves access to mental health support. We provide evidence-based therapy to children and teens between the ages of 6 and 19, partnering with public school districts and insurance providers to remove barriers to care. As a YC-backed organization that has successfully secured funding from firms like Lightspeed Ventures and Union Square Ventures, we are scaling rapidly. We are looking for mission-driven individuals to help us expand our reach and ensure that mental health care becomes a standard, accessible part of every child's education.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid position based in the United States. You will play a pivotal role in building our next-generation platform, which serves a diverse group of users including students, parents, clinicians, and school staff. We value generalists who are comfortable working across the full stack and are eager to contribute to a culture of excellence and psychological safety.
Core responsibilities
- Take full ownership of product features from the initial scoping and architecture phases through to testing and final deployment.
- Collaborate directly with product managers and fellow engineers to brainstorm and implement creative solutions for our users.
- Design and scale the capabilities of our core systems, specifically focusing on our Ruby on Rails API and our React-based web frontend.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should have at least 4 years of professional experience and a strong background in developing complex web applications. We are looking for engineers who are comfortable navigating the entire stack and who bring a low-ego, high-empathy approach to their work. Proficiency in Ruby on Rails and React is essential. While not required, experience with GraphQL, NextJS, DevOps, or the healthtech sector will be considered a significant advantage.
Compensation and benefits
We are committed to supporting the well-being of our team members. In addition to a collaborative and mission-focused environment, we provide the following:
- Hybrid work flexibility.
- A culture that prioritizes mental health, including dedicated mental health days each quarter.
How to apply
If you are passionate about using technology to improve the lives of young people and want to help us build a more accessible future for mental health care, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to us with your background and interest in our mission to start the conversation.
