Senior Software Engineer - Platform at Choco

The opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Platform team. In this role, you will be the architect of the technical foundation that allows our engineering teams to ship software with confidence. As we expand to serve larger enterprise customers, our infrastructure needs to evolve. You will not be working in a silo. Instead, you will take full ownership of complex problems, from the initial design phase all the way to operational adoption. You will help us refine our backend architecture and developer tooling, ensuring that our systems remain scalable, reliable, and easy to maintain as we grow.

A day in the life

• You will design and implement scalable backend systems and shared services that empower our entire engineering organization.
• You will focus on improving the developer experience by creating reusable frameworks, APIs, and automation tools.
• You will manage and optimize our distributed production systems, keeping a constant eye on reliability, observability, and long-term maintainability.

Who you are

You are an experienced engineer who has a proven track record of operating backend systems at a significant scale. You possess deep knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud infrastructure. You are comfortable owning technical initiatives from start to finish and possess the sound judgment to know when to simplify a system versus when to rebuild it. While we primarily use TypeScript, we are very interested in speaking with exceptional engineers who have backgrounds in Go, Java, or Kotlin and are eager to work within our stack. You are a clear communicator who is fluent in English.
