We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. At Gather, we are working to solve the isolation often found in remote work by building virtual offices that bring the camaraderie of in-person collaboration to a digital space. With over 10,000 companies already using our platform, we are scaling our vision of the Metaverse to break down physical barriers in work, education, and personal connection. You will play a vital role in ensuring our complex, real-time virtual environment remains fast and highly performant for all our users.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive performance benchmarks that span our entire stack, including GPU, front-end, and server-side workloads.
- Investigate and resolve complex performance bottlenecks across our desktop application, audio-video systems, and browser-based JavaScript engines.
- Establish a systematic framework for running reproducible performance tests to ensure our product consistently meets high-quality standards.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience working with TypeScript, with additional experience in C++ or Rust considered a significant advantage.
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience dedicated to performance profiling, data analysis, and system optimization.
- Proven ability to design and execute performance experiments while interpreting metrics to drive technical improvements.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
- A self-driven mindset with the ability to decompose large, ambiguous problems into smaller, testable hypotheses.
What we offer
