At StatusPRO, we are dedicated to building the most authentic and immersive virtual reality sports experiences in the world. Founded by former athletes, our company bridges the gap between professional training technology and consumer gaming. We are the team behind the first fully licensed NFL virtual reality simulation, including titles like NFL Pro Era and NFL Pro Era 2, which allow players to step into the shoes of an NFL quarterback and lead their favorite teams to victory. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us push the boundaries of our multiplayer game systems.
Key outcomes
- Architect and maintain efficient, scalable netcode that powers our game clients and servers, including handling lag compensation, client-side prediction, and game state replication.
- Build and manage backend services for essential features such as authentication, matchmaking, leaderboards, player profiles, and in-game transactions.
- Draft and review technical design documentation to provide clear architectural direction for our multiplayer features.
- Provide leadership and support to other multiplayer engineers, including those on internal and outsourced teams.
- Work closely with game designers to ensure network features are integrated smoothly into our core gameplay mechanics.
- Mentor team members and provide training to new engineers on our multiplayer development processes.
- Operate effectively with minimal supervision within our fully remote, globally distributed engineering team.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience working on real-time online multiplayer games.
- Deep knowledge of game networking models, socket programming, network protocols, and real-time communication strategies.
- Expertise in advanced netcode functionality, specifically synchronization and replication techniques like rollback, prediction, and resimulation.
- Proven experience with multiplayer frameworks such as Photon Fusion, Mirror, FishNet, Photon Quantum, or Unity Netcode for Gameobjects and Entities.
- Proficiency in C# or C/C++ within Unity, Unreal, or proprietary AAA game engines.
- Strong ability to use network profiling, debugging, and optimization tools to improve performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Three or more years of experience developing commercial games using the Unity engine.
- A track record of having shipped at least one online multiplayer game title in a similar capacity.
- Practical knowledge of implementing ECS design patterns, such as Unity DOTS, Photon Quantum, or Unreal Mass.
Compensation
This is a full-time, remote position. We offer the flexibility of working from anywhere, allowing our team members to contribute from their preferred environments.
