Senior Software Engineer, Java at SoundExchange, Inc.

Since our founding in 2003, we have grown into a leading music technology organization dedicated to building a fairer and more creator-focused industry. We leverage proprietary solutions and data-driven insights to partner with over 3,600 digital service providers. To date, we have distributed more than $11 billion in digital performance royalties to over 700,000 creators and rights owners. We are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our technology team and help us continue this mission.

• Participate as a primary code author and reviewer within a collaborative engineering team.
• Design, develop, test, and support data-driven solutions while working within an Agile framework.
• Engage in architectural discussions and decision-making processes across the broader engineering organization.
• Communicate technical roadblocks effectively and work with your team to identify creative solutions.
• Interface directly with product stakeholders to ensure alignment on business goals.
• Mentor junior team members and advocate for high-quality software engineering standards and best practices.
• Promote processes that improve efficiency and reduce technical risk.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of professional experience.
• At least seven years of experience working in software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Java, including Spring Boot and JPA/Hibernate.
• Experience working with SQL, specifically Postgres.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, Fargate, OpenSearch, ElastiCache, RDS, Aurora, Athena, and Step Functions.
• Experience building enterprise-grade software that handles complex business rules and data models.
• Background in designing distributed systems or microservices.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
• Experience with frontend technologies such as Angular, Vue, or React.
• Ability to scale systems to manage large datasets.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence business partners.
• Fluency in English.
• Willingness to travel to our Washington, DC office approximately three to four times per year.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $148,000.00 – $173,000.00. We also offer the benefit of remote work flexibility.
