We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer II to join our small, specialized team dedicated to optimizing and refining the core systems at Relay. Rather than focusing on new product features, you will investigate complex technical concerns and design robust solutions to improve our overall architecture and client experience.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Client Support to quickly identify and resolve technical issues for our users.
Provide expert technical coverage for high-impact escalations.
Pinpoint product defects and architectural weaknesses, then lead refactoring efforts to improve system stability.
Work alongside the Product team to develop better data capture tools and address recurring technical pain points.
Create and maintain high-quality troubleshooting documentation and scripts for both internal teams and client self-service.
Champion engineering best practices that prioritize supportability and long-term maintainability.
Remove technical barriers to ensure clients can adopt and launch our product as efficiently as possible.

Must-haves

At least 7 years of experience as a full-stack software engineer, with a strong background in technical support and high-impact problem solving.
Proven track record of working with large-scale applications within a SaaS environment.
Deep proficiency in modern technology stacks, specifically Node, AWS, PostgreSQL, React, TypeScript, Clojure, Python, and Apache Kafka.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and support complex services and APIs.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to document technical processes clearly.
Fluency in English.
A self-starter mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
