Senior Software Engineer II at BallotReady

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer II to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. BallotReady is an award-winning organization dedicated to mobilizing voters and increasing civic participation at every level of government. Our nonpartisan digital platform provides users with essential tools to register to vote, research their ballots, and connect with elected officials. Having successfully partnered with major organizations like Spotify, TikTok, and Snapchat to reach over 35 million voters, we are now focused on expanding our impact for the upcoming presidential elections and beyond. In this role, you will help build the tools that empower citizens to take civic action year-round.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of critical software features, applications, and infrastructure to support our voter engagement mission.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code that powers both our internal configuration tools and our external-facing platforms.
• Mentor fellow engineers and foster a collaborative environment by sharing your technical expertise and best practices in software architecture.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional experience working with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, React, and TypeScript.
• Proven ability to lead major feature builds, including scoping, requirements definition, and system architecture.
• Experience in writing and maintaining comprehensive automated test suites.
• Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional collaboration and providing mentorship to other developers.

What we offer
