We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to join our core team at Skydance New Media. Founded by industry veterans Amy Hennig and Julian Beak, our studio focuses on creating high-quality, story-driven action-adventure games that bridge the gap between cinema and interactive entertainment, such as our upcoming title, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain game systems within Unreal Engine 5.
- Drive technical solutions for industry-leading challenges while sharing your development best practices.
- Refine our world-building processes, specifically regarding Data Layers and World Partition.
- Promote asset hygiene to ensure high performance in the Unreal Editor and maintain team velocity.
- Develop features, tools, and debug functionality to support our narrative goals.
- Collaborate across disciplines with artists, animators, and designers.
- Perform generalist tasks such as profiling, optimization, middleware integration, and localization as needed.
Must-haves
- At least 10 years of professional programming experience with a track record of taking a large game through all production stages.
- Proven experience shipping at least one product using Unreal Engine.
- Expert-level C++ skills and a deep understanding of software engineering principles.
- A history of owning systems and features throughout the game development lifecycle.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and self-driven mindset.
- A commitment to high-quality results and a willingness to innovate.
- Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to California, British Columbia, or Alberta.
Benefits
The base salary range for this position is $170,000 – $220,000, depending on your location, experience, and expertise.
