At ONI, we are on a mission to accelerate scientific discovery and fight disease by empowering everyone to visualize and understand the microscopic details of life. Our Nanoimager is a revolutionary tool that allows for molecular-level cellular studies, helping researchers across the globe make significant breakthroughs. We are based in Oxford and are looking for a passionate Senior Software Engineer with a strong focus on front-end development and cloud expertise to join our innovative team.
What is this role?
This is a full-time, on-site position for an experienced professional. You will be a key member of our team, helping us build software solutions that automate super-resolution microscopy and provide image analysis for academic research, drug development, and diagnostics. We are looking for someone with at least five years of experience in front-end development who is ready to take on senior-level responsibilities.
What will you do?
- Build highly scalable, distributed software solutions that provide a seamless experience for our users.
- Execute pixel-perfect implementations of our approved user interfaces.
- Design and construct robust RESTful APIs while contributing to the overall system architecture to ensure speed and scale.

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in software engineering and a passion for solving complex problems. We value candidates who possess the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated experience building large-scale applications.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, React, JavaScript, or Angular.
- Practical knowledge of cloud services and architecture.
- Familiarity with database technologies like Postgres, MongoDB, or MySQL.
- Excellent debugging, analytical, and communication skills to work effectively within our interdisciplinary team.
