At Clay, we are dedicated to building creative tools that empower businesses to grow by connecting them with the right people. We are currently developing a composable canvas that allows teams to automate their go-to-market strategies, and we are looking for a founding Senior Data Engineer to join our team in New York to own our data architecture and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable data models for both structured and unstructured information.
- Build and manage robust data pipelines while actively monitoring and optimizing their performance.
- Develop and refine ETL processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity within our storage systems.
- Collaborate with internal team members and external stakeholders to ensure our data provides real value to our customers.
- Serve as the primary decision-maker regarding how data is presented to end users within our product.
Must-haves
- At least 5 years of experience in data engineering, data science, or DevOps.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Strong proficiency in languages used for large-scale data processing, such as Python or JavaScript.
- Deep experience working with SQL and other data stores, along with the ability to learn new APIs like AWS S3 or Elasticsearch.
- Proven ability to architect scalable data systems, including event ingestion and high-performance pipelines.
- Experience setting up data pipelines using tools like serverless architectures, queues, and cron jobs.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to New York.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous experience serving as the sole data engineer at a fast-growing startup.
- Familiarity with the GTM tech stack and data providers.
- A natural curiosity for parsing complex data formats to identify what is most useful for customers.
