Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Customer Identity, Risk, and Compliance) at Synctera

By integrating APIs, compliance support, and banking partnerships, we help our clients build new revenue streams and enhance their value propositions. We are looking for a highly skilled and curious Senior Software Engineer to join our Customer Identity, Risk, and Compliance team. This is a remote, full-time position for candidates based in the United States or Canada.

Key outcomes

• Design and implement robust backend services using Go to support our core financial infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges in transaction monitoring, fraud detection, and regulatory compliance.
• Take a leadership role in code quality and architectural decision-making to ensure our systems remain scalable and efficient.
• Mentor junior team members through coaching and technical guidance to foster professional growth across the engineering department.
• Identify opportunities to refine our internal processes and adopt best practices that simplify problem-solving.
• Maintain and expand our platform capabilities for Know Your Customer, Know Your Business, and suspicious activity reporting.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Proven technical proficiency with Go.
• Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar relational database systems.
• Extensive experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment while maintaining strong communication with distributed teams.
• Current authorization to work in the United States or Canada.

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Experience managing containerized environments using Kubernetes.
• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and deployment automation via Argo.
• Experience working with OpenAPI specifications for service documentation and communication.
• Prior exposure to the fintech or financial services industry is a plus, though we welcome applicants with a strong engineering background who are eager to learn the domain.

Compensation
