Senior Software Engineer - Back End at Askfavor

The role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our backend team on a full-time basis. This is a senior-level position that offers the flexibility of a hybrid work environment. Whether you are based in Austin or elsewhere in Texas, you will play a vital role in the entire lifecycle of our backend services, databases, and data warehouse, collaborating closely with product and operations teams to solve complex problems with simple, elegant solutions.

Core responsibilities

• Take ownership of building, diagnosing, and resolving highly complex technical challenges with minimal oversight.
• Conduct thorough research and fact-finding to develop, modify, and improve our existing application architecture.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to plan, execute, and integrate robust technical solutions across our platform.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should bring 4 to 8 years of software engineering experience and a passion for writing clean, testable code. We value candidates who possess the following:

• Proficiency or familiarity with technologies such as Java, Kotlin, MySQL, Postgres, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, and Elasticsearch.
• A deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns that support scalable and maintainable features.
• Experience working within system architectures like SOA, event-driven, or n-tier models.
• The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders while contributing to a collaborative, iterative team environment.
