The role

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our distributed engineering team on a contractor basis. This is a 100% remote position for candidates living in the United States who are able to work during CST hours. Please note that we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role and we are not working with third-party agencies at this time.

Core responsibilities

• Lead the redesign of our current applications as we migrate from Ab Initio to a modern stack powered by Python and Oracle SQL.
• Collaborate closely with our architects, fellow developers, and testing teams to ensure our systems remain robust and efficient.
• Take ownership of the full development lifecycle, including the design, coding, and rigorous testing of our Python-based applications.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in software engineering and a deep understanding of the following areas:

• Extensive professional experience developing with Python.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, particularly within an Oracle environment.
• Proven expertise in software design and testing methodologies.
• The ability to analyze complex test results and implement effective code fixes quickly.
• Excellent communication skills in English to work effectively within our distributed team.
